BIOGRAPHICAL DETAILS
Ph.D. in solid state physics, 1971. Senior Teaching Fellow in chemistry at Monash University, 1970-1975. CSIRO 1975-1998; Senior Principal Research Scientist in Energy Technology from 1992. At UNSW since July 1998.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Application of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) spectroscopy to fundamental aspects of minerals processing and materials utilisation. Sulfide mineral flotation and hydrometallurgy. Coal preparation. The forms of nitrogen and sulfur in bituminous coals and their pyrolysis products. Industrial carbon materials.
