SUMMARY AND AGM 2000

The 2000 NPG Annual One Day Symposium was another outstanding success. Thanks to those who helped make the day so successful.

The full program and abstracts can still be found on our web site: http://www.chem.mq.ed.au/npg

and thanks to our sponsors: Novartis, RACI, UNSW, MDPI and the CMBB.

The conference attracted a large contingent from ANU, Wollongong and UWS as well as several people from UNSW, Macquarie and Sydney Universities. Several people made the the trip from interstate plus there we registrants from New Zealand, India and Singapore, giving the meeting an international flavour. Plenary speakers included Staffan Kjelleberg (UNSW), Sally Petherbridge (Access Taskforce) and Barbara Meuer-Grimes (ExGenix Operations Pty. Ltd.).

Student prizes were awarded for the best oral presentation (Adam Michael, ANU) and the best poster was shared between Andrew Piggott; Macquarie and Cecilia Walkom; Newcastle). Congratulations to them!

The meeting was followed by the AGM which was attended by a quorum of 12 members and declared open at 6 pm. Ian van Altena provided an oral treasurer's report which was followed by a similar report from the secretary. Election of office bearers followed with the following posts elected unopposed:
President Rocky de Nys
Treasurer Ian van Altena
Secretary Joanne Jamie

The committee was elected as follows: Peter Karuso, Benjamin Sauer, James Garner, Russell Barrow, Roger Read, David Black, Kirsten Heiland, Naresh Kumar.

This was followed by a discussion about next years meeting and it was resolved that next year the meeting will be either at Kemp's Creek or Ourimbah. The meeting was declared closed at 6:40pm and a large contingent went on to dinner at a local Italian restaurant. That's all from me.
