The NSW Natural Products Group is pleased to present Dr Kirsten Benkendorff as the first in an exciting series of seminar speakers for 2001. Most of Kirsten's research has concentrated on the search for novel antibiotics from nature. She has used a multidisciplinary approach for this, drawing on knowledge and techniques from ecology, marine biology, microbiology and natural products chemistry. This has led to the discovery of some exciting new sources of potential antibiotics and won Kirsten the Science and Technology category of the Young Australian of the Year Awards in 2000. Kirsten will discuss some of her research to illustrate the value of working at the interface between two scientific disciplines.

When: Thursday 29th March

Time: 6.30pm for 7pm start (refreshments provided)

Where: Princess Function Room, Coronation Club, 86 Burwood Rd, Burwood

Cost: Students free and $11 others (includes GST)
