Program 8708 [coursework 48 UC]Master of Science and Technology in Chemical Analysis and Laboratory ManagementSee also Grad. Dip. and Grad. Cert. in Chemical Analysis and Laboratory Management. DescriptionThis program offers training in advanced chemical analysis techniques and associated management issues. It allows students to select from a series of modules covering all aspects of modern chemical analysis, safety and occupational health issues, and people management. The program will normally be completed within one year on a full time basis, or over two years part time. It is particularly suited to new graduates or laboratory chemists and managers who wish to upgrade their qualifications in and knowledge of chemical analysis and related topics. The MSciTech is a 48 UC program which represents a standard full-time load for 1 year or a part-time load for 2 years. Admission CriteriaA four-year BSc degree with a major in Chemistry or equivalent qualification or a three-year BSc degree with a major in chemistry and at least one year of relevant experience in a laboratory based career subject to the approval of the Head of School. Students who are enrolled in a GradDip Chemical Analysis and Laboratory Management who have completed 36 UC will be able to apply to the Head of School for advanced standing in the MSciTech in Chemical Analysis and Laboratory Management. Students with a three year undergraduate degree, having successfully completed 36 UC in the GradDip Chemical Analysis and Laboratory Management will normally be granted 30 UC advanced standing in the MSciTech Chemical Analysis and Laboratory Management program. Advanced standing for students with a four-year undergraduate degree who wish to transfer to MSciTech Chemical Analysis & Laboratory Management will be considered on a case by case basis. Students with a three-year undergraduate degree, who have taken out a GradDip Chemical Analysis and Laboratory Management and who wish to enrol in the MSciTech will normally be granted 30 UC advanced standing in the MSciTech Chemical Analysis and Laboratory Management program. Advanced standing for students with a four-year undergraduate degree who have taken out a GradDip Chemical Analysis and Laboratory Management and who wish to enrol in the MSciTech will be considered on a case by case basis. Course RequirementsCandidates are required to complete a total of 48 units of credit selected from the following offerings with at least 6 units of credit being selected from the management courses and at least 6 units of credit from the analysis courses:
