Chemistry Video CompetitionThe School of Chemistry at UNSW is running a chemistry video competition from 30 January 2012 to 30 April 2012, and inviting high school students (Years 9-12) to submit a short video with the broad theme "Chemistry in Action". The competition has two categories: individual and team, with prizes of $600 and $1000 respectively. There will also be prizes for other standout entries. Competition details are available on this pdf document. Please make sure you read all of this document before submitting your entry. For Students
On our web site you will find a collection of tutorial notes written by lecturers in the School covering topics of interest to high school students studying chemistry. We welcome your feedback on these articles and invite suggestions for other topics which could be included. There is also a collection of links to other chemistry sites of interest to secondary students. The School of Chemistry has hosted the Royal Australian Chemical Institute Titration Competition on many occasions. A list of competing schools and photos from the 2000 event are available. Students nearing the completion of their high school career can browse descriptions of degrees and courses available to undergraduate students studying chemistry at UNSW. A complete description of first year chemistry courses offered by the School is contained on our web site.
For TeachersThe School of Chemistry has recently initiated an outreach program to establish contact with science teachers. If you are a teacher and would like to enquire about organising a visit by your students to the School of Chemistry, or to discuss other ways for the School to assist you, please contact Dr Naresh Kumar (n.kumar@unsw.edu.au). In November, 1999 and June, 2000 the School of Chemistry ran a series of workshops on the new HSC Chemistry Syllabus. Details of these workshops and other resources for teachers are available on our web pages for teachers. |
